Rabbit Advocacy Animal Matters

Watership Down: " 'Animals don't behave like men,' he said. 'If they have to fight, they fight; and if they have to kill, they kill. But they don't sit down and set their wits to work to devise ways of spoiling other creatures' lives and hurting them. They have dignity and animality.' " Holly the rabbit says: “Men will never rest 'til they've spoiled the earth and destroyed the animals."
In a world where most animals are worth more dead than alive…those that kill them are protected…and those that protect them are incarcerated. Who is the real terrorist? Existing legislation to protect animals from humans is overall very weak. In this day and age, it's absurd that under the legal system, they, - sentient beings - are still regarded as property. It's a real challenge to make change and just as difficult to enforce laws, lay charges, or convict. The punishment never fits the crime. Theoretically, we live in a democracy and law is expected to respond in accordance with shifting values. Of course, we can't regulate human behaviour, but as individuals we do have choices. All animals are at our mercy, and through our voices and actions, we can make a difference by making ethical and compassionate decisions today. "Sometimes people hold a core belief that is very strong. When they are presented with evidence that works against that belief, the new evidence cannot be accepted. It would create a feeling that is extremely uncomfortable, called cognitive dissonance. And because it is so important to protect the core belief, they will rationalize, ignore and even deny anything that doesn't fit in with the core belief." Frantz Fanon (1925-1961) True. Critical thought is non-existent, and evidence and facts are discounted. This, in order not to shatter their reality, and sometimes to protect an individual or to advance a self-serving agenda. Hence, the ongoing and uphill battle to expose the truths. Rabbit Advocacy won’t be silenced. We are here for all creatures. Compassion, respect, and justice for those with no voice. Our treatment of non-human beings can be a catalyst for a more just and compassionate society, or it can be a symptom of a society that has lost its moral compass.
